Thats loads, you'll get cheaper than that, see a local pro for some help in choosing whats best for you to start with.

You can get a nice set for that price! You can get second hand sets for less than £100 so £300 is really good. Get fitted from a specialist shop

enrol in some lessons, this time of year many courses are doing group evening ones which are quite cheap
or have a session with the pro at your local course, the pro will be happy to help, and will often have clubs you can borrow as well as decent 2nd hand ones.

Once you have some idea of what suits you, you can get more help on the forum :)

As others have said, £300 is plenty for beginner gear. If you buy good condition used gear you can probably get all you need for £200 and spend £100 on lessons, which will make a much bigger difference to your game.

Dependant on where you live, there is a very good chance that there are local clubs with PGA teaching pros who run group coaching sessions at very little cost. If you really get the bug, the pro will point you in the right direction when you're ready to take the plunge into buying gear. If you find you don't take to golf - how likely is that? - then you haven't spent too much.

5 courses in the town i live in and surrounding areas and most have pros .. checked and you can actually hire clubs for £5 per round so suppose theres no need to rush into buying some..will check out getting some lessons for sure

thanks for the help guys
