Just got back from a very pleasant round at Bearwood Lakes, playing with Paul (PNWokingham) and Rick (Rickg) Some good golf, but the highlight has to be a video of a certain forumer playing the 13th. More to follow.

You mean this one? ..

just to set the scene......Bearwood Lakes, par 4 13th......His tee shot hooked straight left, hit one tree, then another and then dropped down just in front of the ladies tee........unfortunately never got that shot on video.....

The video is his second shot......topped it, never got more than a foot off the ground, splashed into the lake at the far side, then somehow popped up onto the fairway...........he's still got about 160 to go over another lake......hooked it violently left into the clag......chipped out onto the green to about 15 feet then sank the putt for a 5 for 2..........unbelievable.......

never stood a chance today......thought I was doing reasonably well with 13 points after 7 holes just one off handicap, striking it really well.........Paul at the same point had 18 points and Richart 17....... Paul finished the front 9 with 20 including a blob and Richart 22 points having shot 1 over gross!.......

My 18 points on the back 9 didn't get me anywhere near either of them as they finished on 38 and 39 points.........Paul, just edging out Rich despite blobbing the 18th.....

Great fun and great company as always with those 2 and many thanks to Paul for the invite and for buying lunch.....

Sounds like some good golf being played by all  Love Bearwood, great course.

Isn't that local knowledge though?

It was a great day with good banter all the way and Rick was very conservatively dressed for a change - no pink or pastels! And Rich didn't get lost getting here or going home! Could be some more videos to follow - although we unfortunately did not get Rick's birdie on SI2 - which he called on the tee - or, thankfully, another 3 put from me on 16 - meaning it was only a par!! :o

Rich played better than I have seen and could have been several points higher bar a couple of mistakes. And Rick was striking the ball beautifully on one of his last outings with his "old irons" did you know that a new set are on the way :D - but they have a chance of being with him for the long term, maybe even until the summer  I played very mixed and got away with loads of mistakes due to a few very jammy scrambles - and a poor T shot on 9 and 18 would have seen a truly unjustifiable score - to be honest, I would rather feel happy with my ball striking and score less - no way I would have got away with this golf in the summer months when the rough is up.

haha, great post chaps, has put a nice smile on my fizzog.

Love the little bow by Paul, I assume the banter must have been thick and fast that day

Not sure why he takes his hat off when he is being filmed ? Not a pretty shot but effective !!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed the day guys. Thanks for the invite Paul, even if I was sixth reserve !!! Great company as usual and plenty of laughs. Loved your putt in front of the clubhouse Rick.:D I was laughing so much I left my eight foot putt to tie Paul a foot short.:(

Paul predicted 40 points on the first tee, so he was a little disppointed. It could have been at least 42 points, but for a couple of lapses on the last three holes. Rick was hitting the ball really sweetly, especially with his woods. Can't believe he is thinking of changing them. Struggled a bit on the greens, but it will not be long before the handicap starts moving in the right direction again. Unfortunately we did not get a video of his shot into the waters edge on 14. Big spash followed by a wounded duck leaping into the air.

I managed to play the first 10 holes in one over, including a double bogey and then the wheels fell off. Put it down to old age, the cold, and more likely to a lack of ability.

Thanks again for the game guys, and the lunch Paul.

Got to agree, that's a great divot, and beautifully replaced if I may say so.

(Can you get an infraction for spoken swear words caught on video? ;))
Plenty of swearing when he missed the putt. I was shocked and it takes a lot to shock me.

Excellent videos Rick!! Glad you had a good day. Blundell and I had a very enjoyable (but very cold!) 36 holes at Bushey Hall. Some good scoring from both of us..............despite a four ball in front of us now allowing us to play through! There must have been a few complaints about them as the pro put up a reminder about slow play and letting people through on the notice board when we'd finished! Highlight of the day though was my wife bringing us each a lovely hot cuppa when we reached the 6th tee. The old boys in front of us were very impressed.........and slightly disappointed that she didn't make any tea for them as well!!

Wonderful woman your wife, I fondly recall the bacon sarnies she made for us all when when playing the course last year!
