Baselayer - Recommend me one

Love my Galvin Green Skintight Thermal (Eric) tops, got 1 of each in black & white and really keep me cosy, there not like a compression top that hugs the life out of you, so soft and comfortable and easy to play in with other supporting layers.

You've peaked my curiosity with The Galvin Green range Robin

How do they come out size wise?

I have a 45" chest and usually plumb for XL. Their size guide suggests XL, but with you actually owning and wearing, what would your thoughts be?

I'm a large in almost everything but with these tops I have to wear a medium and they fit perfect, so going by what your size is I'd look at Large!

My pro let me try 1 on though so I was lucky otherwise I'd have bought a large, but if your buying online you can send it back without any issues, although it's a pain.

My favourite is my footjoy compression one.
I also have an under armour cold gear and Nike Pro, they are all good but the FJ edges it for me.

That's the thing Robin, I'll be buying online and, if I can't find one local to try, will have to buy blind so to speak.

I can fit into most large size top's but they do feel a little constricted for a golf swing, hence I choose the XL option.

I have 2 Adidas base layers and have also had Nike in the past. Both in large and both fit snug.

Function 18 have the GG base layers down from £50 to £35

Let me know the best prices you find with postage, my Pro might be able to do something better for me, he's overflowing with stock currently and does some great deals for me, I might be able to grab something and get it to you cheaper all round.

That's an excellent price at F18, I've just bought the Midnight Eric for £33.30

I bought some Campari base layer long sleeved vests and long johns quite cheaply from Sports Direct, and they have been excellent. Think they are really intended for skiing, but they work just fine for golf. :)

I also bought some Capri I think they were called thermal leggings & vests from SD at Christmas in the sales that were dirt cheap, keep me really toasty during the day when out on sites.

Personally find the Dunlop ones more than adequate. The Kipsta Keepdry from Decathlon is also decent for £4 a pop, they're more for runners, but had no issues with them for golf.

I prefer Helley Hansen; they do the job, don't cost the earth and wash well. First used one back in nineteen-canteen when working on a snowcap in Norway so I can vouch for their effectiveness!

I have crew necked adidas base layers [£30] as I hate the feeling of a turtleneck one! Be warned though if you a golfer whose waist size is in feet not inches don't bother as you'd look like a condom filled with vaseline.
