Bargain shinies: tempted to be rash

I blame Oddsocks for this... for PM-ing me to alert me that there are some great deals around on Cobra S2 forged irons (on my shiney shortlist)

Online golf have them at £299 for 4-PW (RRP is about £650)

Golfbuyitonline have them at £349 with gap wedge thrown in.

http://www.golfbuyitonline.com/Cobra-S2-Forged-Irons-Steel.php

So my dilemna is whether to have punt at that price? I could have a mad dash round to try to find some trial ones or just wade in and snap them up.

PROS:
- I know my basic swing speed so the stiff Nippon NS Pro 1130 Tour shafts should be fine for me.
- they are mighty purrrrrty
-it's a hell of a lot of club for the price.. forged players irons for 300 notes!
-I know i'm good enough to hit them well.
- I'm a Cobra fan any way
- if I really can't hit them, it' be a pretty smally loss on resale

CONS:
- Buying without trying is (usually) a daft thing to do :p
- I haven't tried any of my other shortlisted clubs
- I can't really get fitted for them, which was something I was keen to do.

But, come on... 300 notes!!!!!

I may be a fool, but a happy fool.

What to do....

Anyone tried or hit these?

DO IT! DO IT!

Seriously, that's a well decent price and if you don't get on with them, you'd make most of your money back selling them on.

They are by far the nicest Cobra irons I've ever seen.

Re: Bargain shinies: tempted to be rash

Just seen that Clubhouse Golf sare doing the £299 4-PW with free gap wedge!

I'm close to pulling the trigger!

Re: Bargain shinies: tempted to be rash

I'd say, be 100% sure you want forged irons before you buy, great when hit it out of the middle, but when they go wrong, boy they really go wrong.

Re: Bargain shinies: tempted to be rash

go for it. beautiful irons. ive lost my 7 iron either at the range, course or in the garage and tried to buy the 7iron from those clubs from ebay to replace it. got outbidded for it though.

Oh, I never miss the sweetspot

But, seriously, played plenty of forged clubs in the past... used to borrow my mate's Mizzy TP9 blades from time to time, so happy that I can middle these, as they have a pretty generous cavity.

BEHAVE!! The Pro CB's or Pro MB's are some of the best looking clubs I've ever come across. In a different league to these (although they are nice too).

I'd say go for it at that price, only word of warning would be the shaft. I've tried a couple of times with the NS Pro and absolutely hated them, like swinging a garden cane to me.

If you've tried the shafts before fill your boots my man :whoo:

I am borderline reg-stiff in a lot of iron shafts. I was thinking of getting these in stiff as they are on the whippy side I think?

Re: Bargain shinies: tempted to be rash

Just go for them. I did the same on some Taylormade TP CB,s Forged. From lefthandgolf. £250 with GW. Best thing I did.

Just been and had a look at the Cobra,s. Nice looking clubs, look as though they would be nice to play with (was going to put hit, but you don't hit clubs like that. You stroke them smoothly away). .

I've not seen the Pro MB or CBs. So my point still stands :ears:

Re: Bargain shinies: tempted to be rash

Buy them. At that price you would not take much of a hit if you really hated them.

Once you've bought them, I'm assuming you will be looking for a Cobra S2 3 wood to complete the set. i know of one which is in good nick, has had a good home, going cheap and staring at me right now;)

I teased myself for days before I caved in and bought the S56's from Redwood.

You will do it!

The force is not strong in you young Cobrafreak!

:fore:

ORDERED!!!!!!!!!

£299 from Clubhouse Golf for 4-PW plus the matching 49* gap wedge gratis.

Worth the punt I'm sure. :fore:

Now, all those people I've mocked for having iron covers... :o

I've joined the world of fussy forged irons owners and am already worried about preserving the shiney shiney!
