Anyone played the course or are even members? If so, any feedback on the course, club or the membership?Trying to gather info on prospective clubs as I may be moving to Northern Ireland.

Played it loads of times, it has a cracking clubhouse, its a bit different ,its starts on the other side of the road with 5 parkland holes then you cross back over and play holes that run along the cliffs with some fantastic views over to Rathlin Island and on clear day you can see over to Scotland.

Where are you moving too exactly ?

Played it in May - Lovely clubhouse, really nice members around the day we were there - magnificent views from the up top of the hill holes - eighteenth is a cracking hole - that's pretty much it - I didn't like the course at all

Coast road from Ballygally north is wonderful

I'd say Ballycastle is the worst course of all the courses up the coast. Played it plenty of times over the years. If joining somewhere that neck of woods I'd agree with Brendy and say Hilton templepatrick. Cracking course and great facilities.

If money is no option this would be ideal! Green fees for the year are only around £700, problem is big joining fee, but at £120 a round for the strand course £700 is a bargain!!

Its a great place to golf ,the Riverside is a decent enough course in its own right and the the wee Town course is cracking if you just play the holes along by the coast. Have play them all many a time , young lad like the Town course. I saw that the other day it was £120 around which is a wee bit steep trying to compete with Royal Portrush i think.

Had three rounds at Hilton. Really like it, greens at 6200, whites at 6700, blues at nearly 7100. Usga greens. Great selection of holes, not compressed together. Placement off tee bring rewards. But if you get it wrong 30 yd putts across multilevel greens.....

Yeah competing with Royal Portrush alright! Played the Riverside few weeks ago again and unfortunately wasn't in as good a nick as before.

Haven't been over this year, normally over at least once a year, i know a few members of Portstewart so play with them when over, love it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Cairndhu is on my list due to proximity and FiL is former member. But as I have time on my hands (currently in Hong Kong and won't be moving back for at least 18 months) I want to do some research, figure out what I want from a club and find what suits best and what would be best value. I have also looked at Templepatrick but was slightly worried by the hotel running it. Thought this might be to the detriment of the club feel, although the course looks good. The drive to Portstewart or Ballycastle wouldn't put me off for a quality course, good competition, a team to play in(HC currently 3) and all round good club to be a member of.

Of that handicap I'd join Portstewart great challenge of golf, Ballycastle wouldn't be challenging enough, no disrespect to it.
