Anybody seen any good deals for pro v balls recently ??? Doesn't need to be this years model but they need to be new, lake balls are a definate no-no!!

Anybody ever tried to but bulk??? Like 10 dozen and split the cost with mates to try and get a better deal??

What difference between x outs and standard pro vs?

X-outs don't meet the high standards of titleist quality assurance standards. They may have cosmetic imperfections or small errors. They might even fail conforming tests by being slightly "off the round" or something else. Generally though there is little wrong with them because manufacturing standards are so high. They can't be used in comps where the list of conforming balls is applied although this is usually elite amateur events and above. Very few normal club comps would apply this condition. They are fine for play. The x-ing of the logos basically is what removes them from the list of conforming balls because the seam and pole markings no longer match what is stipulated on the conforming list.

Practice balls on the other hand tend to be exactly the same as the full price ball. Any errors on them tend to be purely cosmetic. They are allowed when conforming balls condition is in place because the pole and seam markings aren't effected by the Practice stamp. Basically they are the same as a logo ball.

I bought a dozen 2013 pro v1 from online golf for £30, they had a batch with printing on them, mine have one word on them, can't remember what it is now, they were good value bought them about 4 weeks ago

I found one a few months ago, it was mighty long off the tee and felt ok around the greens.

I appreciate this, its good info albeit quite dated and obviously the brands want us to believe all this. Lets be honest here and be reflective of our own standards...Ive conducted my own tests, it made no difference in distance or spin to my game and would argue any amateurs at our level. I like to use the best equipment but when it comes to balls £50 for a dozen which in this weather you'd be hard pushed to get more than one round at best out of, is just ridiculously extravagant.
I buy Pearl Grade balls Prov 1X that have no discolouration or damage to them, fairly new in age and they fly as well as any brand new ball. I pay less then half the RRP normally buy in bulk and it I cant say I have ever noticed any that I can tell. That includes off the tee, irons and putting. I just hope I win a few minor comps to back them up with a few newer ones.

Oh and by the way.. when you find a shiny ball in the rough or in the water what do you do?? Throw it away in disgust as it doesnt make the grade? Or throw it in the bag and use it on the next tee when you've hit your drive and new ball OB!! Of course you do. :thup:

Lake balls felt very hard to me in comparison with other pro v balls, how much are the callaway tours then?? Can I get a better deal on those than the pro v???

You'd be hard pushed to beat the current offer of Wilson FG tours on onlinegolf. £14.99 a dozen or save £3 when buying 2. If you use onlinegolf regularly then using your points will also reduce the cost. Seriously worth considering if you want a cheap premium ball.

£27 for 2 dozen - hard to beat. might have a look at them as there are 0 deals for the z-stars

One thing to watch with the Wilson FG Cosmetic Blemish balls is that there are two models of ball in the boxes, the FG Tour and the Tour X, even though the box is marked FG Tour.
Each box contains a dozen of one type but it's not indicated anywhere. I don't really like the feel of the Tour X so end up trying to find the model number in the little window on the box.
