After hitting my 1st ball into trees, I hit a provisional ball into the fairway. I walk up and find my first ball but it’s completely unplayable. Impossible to chip out either way. What’s my options with the rules?

Take an unplayable drop where you are ( two clubs lengths ) or stroke and distance walk back to the tee

As Phil says your choices are to play it, or take an unplayable option....but you have 3 not the 2 referenced. Basically (but you should reference the Rules for the detail)
Return to where you last played from (stroke and distance)
Relief area 2cl not nearer etc for 1 stroke
Back on line relief for 1 stroke

Once you find your ball your provisional is no longer an option ( you played it provisionally on your first ball being lost, or OOB)
