I know that, if your ball ends up hanging over the hole, you have 10 seconds after reaching the hole without undue delay for it to fall in. If it falls afterwards, you have to add one shot in lieu of the tap in. But what about what happened to me yesterday?
I played a shot from 100 yards or so and the ball ended up hanging right on the edge of an overhang on a greenside bunker. I walked with undue delay to the green which, at normal pace, must have taken the best part of a minute. Just as I reached the green, but still far enough away not to have vibrated the ball, it fell into the bunker. Am I right in thinking that I’m stuffed and have to play it from the bunker? Which I did. If so, it seems harsh, given that it had been on the edge for over a minute.
