After purchasing a driver it's got me looking at the rest of my bag.

As far as balance goes my bags a shambles.

As it stands I have

Callaway ft9 driver
Slazenger 3 wood (only ever used it of the tee)
Slazenger deep cavity 3 - sw
Wilson lob wedge
Wilson putter.

I would love to eventually bring in new irons but I'm coping well with my 5 iron upwards and certainly seem to be fine for learning the game.

Where I'm concerned is between my driver and 5 iron I only really have my 3 and 4 iron which I don't get on with.

Ideally what should I be filling that big gap with.

Yeah I'll need to look into hybrids to to offer me that bit more than my 5 iron. Could be my next investment.

I can't even imagine my 3 wood of the deck. It's a seriously fat headed club. I'll certainly give it a bash though.

Not yet bob. Will it have an effect on what clubs I put in my bag?

Absolutely.
Why take a club out of your bag because you can't use it.
Get some lessons, improve your swing and you will be able to hit anything.
Buying new clubs wont improve your swing.
Having said that, a 3 and 4 hybrid wouldn't do you any harm.
You might even think about putting in a 5 wood to fill the gap between your 3 wood and 3 iron

I tried a titliest hybrid up at the range this afternoon.

First three balls all topped. I was ready just to fling it in the corner. Took a few seconds thought about my swing and bang. Straight down the middle. I had to use a 3/4 swing but the results were great. Would definitly bridge the massive gap between the driver and my 5 iron.

Also had a bash with my 3 wood of the mat. Had people running for cover.
