Just wondering how many on here thrive in bad weather?

I know we all prefer the warm sunny calm days but when the weather turns bad, does your golf? I never regarded myself as a good bad weather player and a few years ago wouldn't even play if it was raining, but the wet summer a couple of years ago meant it was get wet or No golf so I played through and got comfortable with the conditions. I appreciate that scoring will generally be worse in poor conditions, but from my own point of view I feel I'm more competitive in the comps because I can handle it better than most and post scores closer to my handicap.

Im certainly not a lover of rain or very high winds, however most of it is in the head. You definately need to be strong minded and try and treat it as normal conditions.Someone said once that half the field are beat before they even play because mentally they have beat themselves, try and work with the conditions not against them[wise words]if only i could do that too.

Agree with PJ....half the field can be discounted when it rains because all they see are the negatives.

I tend to focus more and become a bit steely-eyed when it rains as I feel I have a good wet game, and therefore an advantage.

Personally, I enjoy playing in all conditions..... even windy.

I set it up (mentally) as a challange and challage myself to play well regardless of conditions. I don't ignore the conditions and play as if it's a normal day, I play the course as I find it. If, for example, it's windy (cross or down), I adjust my club selection and/or landing zone accordingly and try and make best of it.

I've played some good rounds of golf in the rain and I've played some shite rounds in the sun. It's all about frame of mind. It's definately true that half the field are beaten before they start.

At the end of the day, someone has to win, might as well be me

My views are the same as a few on here. I like the rain, I concentrate more, I know half the field are beaten before they get on the tee. I just accept that these are the conditions and I cannot do anything about it.

Not a great fan of the strong wind, but that's improving. As for the snow and ice, I might as well take the dog out, because I am not going to enjoy my golf and I still get the exercise.

i'll play in whatever

you just have to accept it and get on with it,ok you enjoy it a little less but your still playing the game you love

ppl only playing when weathers perfect is the reason you get
scores like this from pros in just the tiniest of blows

Not a massive fan of playing in the rain. Mostly because I just don't need the worry of trying to keep my grips dry. Don't mind a light shower but 18 holes of pure rain is not for me thankyouverymuch.

Don't mind anything else.

Slowly getting used to playing in pretty windy conditions as it gets right windy down at my place.

I've played in driving rain for the last couple of days but only because it was very mild. Don't like playing in very windy conditions but the only gamestopper for me is thick fog.

I'll play in any conditions but find rain tiresome as a glasses wearer. Even with a peaked cap they still get wet and so I struggle to spot the flight sometimes. Other than that, umbrella holder on the trolly keeps the clubs dry and holds a towel for my grips and hands. Good quality waterproofs (set of proquip silktouch and FJ tour), decent shoes, spare gloves and a rain glove for real heavy downpours and I'm good to go. Take more club, swing easy and keep positive

There was wind there? It must have been like a hamster blowing through a pea shooter.

Don't mind a bit of rain/wind. Both together is a mare though. Heavy winds like today are really hard going. i.e 40+mph with even bigger gusts.

Im good in comps when the weather is bad as I buckle down and remind myself that most are already beaten, a friendly game in the rain Im absolutely useless and may as well not be out there

I'll play in anything, not keen on hard frost as can really judge bounce on approach and long game.

Even strong wind, or rain, but both together is a real test. More to keep stuff dry and relaxed.

The more challenging the weather the happier I am with a score close to my handicap.

I've played some of my best golf in high winds and rain. Never seem to lose grip on the club in a downpour either.
Still love the Sun on my back but, hey, you take what you're given.

i absolutely love it when it really hammers down during a comp as im telling them i love the rain and it messes with there head but yeah i love the rain
