Back to my roots...

One of our two courses at Monifieth (The Ashludie) is where I had my first ever eighteen holes of golf - played it on Sunday and shot some fifty shots less than that first outing back in 1985.

Actually really took up golf a year later though at Orton Meadows in Peterborough - biggish front nine with lakes - really short back nine but loads of fun - I'd love to go back to play it again.

My next club and the one where I played most of the golf in my life was Alford in Aberdeenshire - lovely short parkland course - I was last up there about four years ago, but I'm going back to play in one of their opens this year - can't wait.

Group of four of us ex-members of Filton GC Bristol looking forward to playing in at least one Open comp there this year - maybe their Open 4BBB - must check website. None of us have played it for at least 15yrs - near 20yrs. Back then two of us were off 6 and two off 20+ - and through time we have converged to 9-13. It will be interesting for all of us to see how we do over a course we all knew so very well with the course having evolved and matured.

And next time I'm home in Glasgow I think I'll have a go at Deaconsbank (Rouken Glen muni). I need to pick up some etiquette tips from some miserable old gits (what do you mean - that'll be me - the miserable old git whanging on about etiquette - talking to myself? :))
