What a great day ( in between early rain and constant wind) had at Bude, playing with Twire, Redwood and Jevan. (excuse spelling) Considering the conditions (bloomin windy)I really enjoyed myself. I suppose its each to their own, but I thought Bude was a cracking course with all the elements of a Links that is very very tough to play well when the weather is invading.

I dont think any of us had scores to shout about but some great golf was played by each and everyone, though not enough of it :D I managed a down wind down hill 320 with my lads 'Donnay' driver :D and a birdie on par 3, I took my spare hippo clubs 5-sw, donnay 3w,wilson hybrid, howsham recovery and a putter I have never used before in my scruffy old carry bag and had a 'so close but yet so'..sort of a day. I always take this kit when Im camping in case they get nicked.

Anyway, I think Bude is a great course, it has everything, great design, tough greens to read if you can stay on them, lots of hard luck terrain, plenty of bunkers, several blind shots and in strong winds it is a pretty tough course to play. Just how a links should be. I loved it!

Well done Lee and thanks for putting it up mate. ;)

I love Bude. I particularly like the 4th (par 3 on a little island surrounded by the roads and the long hole (8th from memory) where you tee off by the school field and play down through a valley. I also love the 16th.

Its a great course and a lovely clubhouse which although old fashioned had a warmth and the members made the group I was with very welcome. Definitely worth a game if you get the chance

I overshot that one Homer, I had hell of a job judging the wind on that one, only used a PW 3/4 swing and it finished on the other side of the road, up against OOB post almost.

I thought, 'this one looks simple' :o

Now I know the course a little , I must get back there soon.

I'll second that HNJ, it was a great day. The course was playing tough with the rain early on, and the constant wind. That being my first trip to Bude, the impression it left was that it's a great course, but can make you look very silly in the conditions we played in. I would love to play it again on a calm sunny day.

It's always nice to put faces to names, at these mini meets.

Cheers to Redwood for setting it up, and I'll see you again at the Belfry HNJ.

BTW HNJ that 320 yard drive, was that on the par 5 ninth where you flew the green and I had the 10 footer for eagle? :D :D :D :D

Well, as the guys said, it was a tough day (although the sort of conditions I'm used to playing in at Bude, I would prefer it if that level of wind kept itself to the winter months).

As Twire said, great to meet some of the forum members, and also young Jevon, who managed to make playing in those conditions look fairly effortless; as was his swing.

Yes, that was the 9th twire, where you had a ten footer for eagle (lucky bounce with a tree branch if I remember correctly with your second shot which you forgot to mention :) (sorry Connor).

Anyway, glad you all enjoyed it, and as I said, drop me a line if your in the area again.

You know, I thought I had hit a good enough one for the green.......only I also hit it enough to bounce on it and bugger off out the back :D :D, but your course knowledge and the tree rebound was priceless :D :D
Poor Jevers hit two really good golf shots, hit the middle from about 220 yds and ended up in the dragons den :D :D
