Been looking at a few away opens during the last few days.

Just wondering if many of you guys play in any and how far you travel in a day to go to a nice track.

Was looking at the Players Club website and caught eye of the Stiff Salver. Its played over the championship course at 7607yards. Looks like more of a fun event designed to give people a look at a course that is at the top end of tour length but it is only a day before there proper singles open. Anyone played in this before??

What the deal with the players club too? I was looking on their site and it appears to be seperate from the championship course there. Is it just really exclusive on the championship course?

Got about 3 or 4 opens planned atm but anyother suggestions are welcome.
Would only travel 2 hours from salisbury tops for one day, but a two or three day stay is more flexable.

I've entered a couple of opens so far. One here on May 2nd...

The other here on August 27th....

The Hever one is an 18 hole Stableford competition but the Worthing one is a 36 hole medal played over their two courses. Really looking forward to that one because I've never played Worthing before but understand both courses are pretty good.

I would love to play in a few more but as the vast majority of them are on Saturdays, work cocks it up a bit.

Play as many "away" days as you can, that's my opinion as it develops your game and provides a "different" type of competition than a monthly medal.

Its also a great way of playing courses from their tiger tees for a fraction of the usual green fee.

I've got about 8 away trips lined up at the moment. I'm toying with the idea of going to St Georges Hill to do their 36 hole scratch open aswell. Only £65 and HID would go down too so we could make a couple of days of it.

I'll have to find some local events to play in I think. The courses are usually superbly set up, the food afterwards is decent and the cost is usually no more expensive than high season green fees.

Didn't realise you were in Salisbury. I played the Ferndown open at their festival of golf last year ( in May) and really enjoyed it. Superbcourse in great nick, good price. Check out their website.
