Attracting Women

As Hogan says Toilets on the course are the No I issue [and sometimes the No 2 as well]

Seriously they are an important factor.

LOL - and quite - we blokes are very laissez faire in our attitude to our playing buddies toileting habits - not quite so simple for the fairer sex. But there's a thing - I seen plenty of blokes go for a quick one but I've never spotted a lady - erm...

Anyway - hopefully that isn't a major hinderance to ladies joining my club. I think the trick as mentioned before is to get new prospective lady members together - as we do in our academy. They learn the game together and form friendships - so when it comes to deciding on whether or not to join joint decisions are made. For the elephant in the room reason amongst others I think ladies find it much easier joining a male dominated establishment at the same time as one or more other ladies. Seems to be working with us. And we are trying the same with our junior academy - and that seems to be working as well getting more girls playing. All good stuff and healthy for the club.

We head further into the bushes!! As an ex runner I have no issues with bush moments but most ladies seem to have - they must have bladders of steel!

I think there's a lot to be said for trying to attract girls to clubs as the senior section dominates numbers-wise but that isn't the future of the membership. Not sure what the answer is to that though although the academy idea sounds a good one as there does seem to be a safety in numbers attitude amongst some women.

In all the clubs I have been a member of the Women's section has always been run as a complete separate entity, almost as if they are a different golf club sharing the same building. I think it is this attitude that creates a certain amount of animosity between the men and Women golfers. As my Wife is a golfer I play in a number of mixed events, some that are drawn for partners, this has helped me to know many of the ladies and by and large they are quite a delightful crowd. If there were more men/women integrated competitions and a single club Committee with suitable female representation then it would IMO help to break down the current divisions. Now dont get me going on Seniors!

I think it will happen when more clubs have one membership for men and women. Equal rights on and off the course. I am all for it (and so is my golf playing wifelet-to-be).
