What do you do on your club championship?
Are you a player that attacks the course, one that wants to put in a good first round, getting in contention early.
Or a player that doesnt want to blow his chances attacking, so maybe plays a little more defensive then attacking more in the afternoon round.

i will be a little defensive off the tee in the first round though will try and attack as many pins as possible, 2nd round approach will depend solely on the day 1 score. That said Ive prob got to shoot my best 2 rounds possible to be in the shake up so not gonna get too worried about it unless I go low round 1

Being a handicap golfer, when ours comes around it will be find the fairway, find the middle of the green, on a lot of holes to me it might not be driver from the tee, anything to give me the best chance of finding the greens in regulation.
As long as I can do this, I won't complain as I know the greens will be in good condition and every putt has a chance.

I think its best to play the round exactly as you play it every other week of the year. Dont start taking irons off tees when you would normally hit 3w or driver. You're just gonna make things too complicated and start having to adjust the clubs you go into greens with the other 51 weeks of the year.

You need to do everything the same as mormal too , if you dont normally warm up then dont bother going to the practice range for an hour. If you have a full english breaky before a round then do the same. Rock up and give it your best shot within the limits of your game.

Oh and good luck

Its one of the only competitions in the year with a cut...

Its one of the only competitions spanning two days usually..

Its one of the only competitions no one wins after 18 holes..

All three of the above are ways of saying its more than a round of golf, its about stringing two together.

I shot 84,85 in ours and came second nett with a 1 under par 143! The first round leader in both gross and nett shot something like 69 on day 1 and then shot 89 on day two.

The best thing to do is keep the ball in play for both rounds, no need to go miles under at all, just string two decent ones together and you shall do well!

I took no 3 off the tee, lost no balls and did nothing spectacular, I had 3 birdies on day 2 but also had a mostly bogeys.

To sum it up, keep it simple and keep it in play! Most club level golfers in a 2 round comp will have one or two bad holes, maybe a 9 or an 8 that takes them out of it.

Good advice. Play your normal game.

Anyone getting into attacking mode is probably going to rack up a big number and blow themselves out of the comp.

Don't mind as long as I make the cut and have a game on Sunday. Played tonight and didn't hit it great but got it round for the nine I played relatively unscathed. Caetainly not in any trouble and parred the SI 1 for a change. Just playing like I do every other week and what will be will be

Ours starts tomorrow and as far as I'm concerned it's just another medal so will play it as I always do. Every shot on it's own merits but I'll be attacking every chance I get, I've got myself into so much trouble playing safe I figure I may as well have a go at it. I won't play risky shots, but will play any shot within my capability if it's the right shot for the hole.
