Athletes Foot Spray for Strike Pattern - Help!

Evening gents,

So I made a right boob of myself at the range today. Finally got round to buying myself some athletes foot spray to try and work out a pattern to my mis-hits like a good improving high handicapper. Got to the range with my new spray, warmed up with an 8 iron, people either side of me. Driver headcover comes off, spray comes out, people hear an odd noise and look over inquisitively to see me spraying a completely transparent, useless layer of fluid onto my driver face.

Cue facepalm moment.

So! Which of you lovely forummers has used an athletes foot spray for this purpose before and can direct me to the correct type to buy so I don't waste another fiver and look like I'm a screwdriver short of a toolbox?

Another way, use a non-permanent marker pen and put a little dot on each ball so it makes a mark on the club face.

Non-permanent so it doesn't stay on the balls and easy to wipe off the club.

This is very true haha! At the moment, they're the areas most in need of treatment as well...the sweetspot is in pristine health :fore:

Also thanks RD, I'll have to invest correctly now. Might try the dry-wipe marker trick in the meantime though. Sound advice as per usual!

would it not of been easier to call into the chemist and ask him what he would recommend to put on your clubs.

I've heard dry shampoo is a great alternative....and can be found at your local pound shop

Just buy the impact tape. you can hit a pile of drives and you will be able to track your progress if you keep the stickers. If you are improving your impact groupings will begin to get tighter.

The reason for using spray is that it doesn't affect the contact with the face. It's much better than impact stickers

Especially the reusable ones.

My local range gave me a roll of the cally iron ones a few years back

I find that range balls leave enough of a mark on the face anyway. Is there really any advantage using stickers or spray?

Feel for you, been there and done it, then I realised I needed the spray with the powder in it!May I give you a tip when you use the foot powder spray at this time of year, which is to wipe the ball before it is hit. I did not to start with and the wet range balls (that had come out of the washing equipment) left such a large impression on the head of my irons it was difficult to actually determine where the impact position really was, easier to see on the driver but the wet ball meant I had t keep re-spraying the driver face

Thanks for the tip - range balls are always quite damp at ours. Can see that being an issue if you hadn't said
