At last, I have learnt how to compress the ball.

Ever since I started playing this game, (18 months) I have suffered from inconsistent ball striking.
My bad shot was always a fat, although I gradually improved to reduce my bad shots to a minimum, I know in my own mind that I was still too inconsistent, then after working on my posture, swing path & back swing it finally happened!!

I began at last to hit the ball & then the ground, leaving a lovely shallow divot after the ball.
The ball began to leave the club like a bullet being shot from a gun, with a lovely flight. ( not too high)
The only downside is it has thrown all my distances out, I have noticed the following increases in distance.

Gap wedge was 80 yards (now 100 yards)
Pitching wedge was 100 yards (now 125 yards)
7 Iron was 140 yards (now 155 yards)
6 Iron was 150 yards (now 170 yards)

I am still working on my other club distances, but this is with a fairly relaxed swing, (I am certainly not trying to smash it) it just goes to show that it is all to do with correct timing & ball contact rather than outright power.

The key to it for me was to adopt the correct posture (was too flat footed before) also to bring the club down on a shallower line, (was coming in too steep before) & lastly, to shorten my back swing.

At last, I am playing well & full of confidence going into the new season, bring on the comps!!!
