Yikes..
You could say the same for most of those that missed the cut.
If you want to make a living out of it you need to be able to shoot a bit better than that....

Oooof!!!

Frilford is not exactly a brutal test either, a lovely members club with plenty of room to play with.

Luckily he had 3birdies in rd 1, just to to keep the score down like!!!! :)

Known in the trade as 'rich dad syndrome'

I played in our midweek medal and one of our juniors joined me and my playing partner. He was a very good 12 handicapper and was only 14! His dad followed us around, always in eyesight of his son. At one point he was hiding behind the trees in between fairways! Felt quite sorry for the poor lad.

I assume there will be an entry fee, fuel to get to the course, overnight accommodation, food, drinks etc. An expensive couple of days to shoot your load.

Hope it comes back to him.

Entry for the whole of Q school is £1350.

One of our assistants is off to Spain the first week of November for the second stage.

He could always be a club pro. However, with scores like that I wouldn't want to be paying him for a lesson.

I used to play in our annual pro-am (played with Andrew Sherborne a few years ago), but when I started beating the pro's scores I thought it was time to give up. Some of the young pro's I played with were just rubbish, how they thought they were going to make it as a golfer I don't know. Some of them were 5 or 6 handicappers at best on a good day i reckon.

Seeing this a lot myself. Had some dealings with a few and they even struggled to pass the P.A.T and when they did finally get it they then struggle to get the 7 scores of level par or 4 within the leader during their training.

1 guy shot 33 over in 2 rounds and another NR'd the last few comps he played in fact himself and another assistant actually NR'D in a 4BBB comp lol.
I felt sorry for them a bit thinking they dont get much free time to play etc until my mate (Pro) their boss put it into perspective. They get £180 a week for 42 hours. When he was doing his training 15 years ago he worked at different courses but 1 was Macrihanish where he earned £70 a week had a car to run and rent to pay so had to try and do some lessons and caddying etc to top up his wages and still managed to play. Very rarely drinking or going out. Just eating drinking and living golf.

The guys working for him just seem to want to party and think a 30 min session on the range is good enough to get them through.

I remember one assistant moaning about the pro not giving him enough time to practice.
The pro came up with a belter and said that for every hour of his own time he practiced he would give him half an hour of his paid time.
Result was that he did not spend any extra time on the practice ground, he just wanted to be paid to practice.
