Doon frae Troon - It's the first stage, I think that 2nd stage is in Spain next month.

Some guys who have either wealthy parents or a backer give it a go at turning pro, but it can be an expensive wake-up call.

I remember one assistant moaning about the pro not giving him enough time to practice.
The pro came up with a belter and said that for every hour of his own time he practiced he would give him half an hour of his paid time.
Result was that he did not spend any extra time on the practice ground, he just wanted to be paid to practice.

1 young lad said the other day that he felt he should get extra days off. His reasoning was he had played in some pro-am and other events as required by the training program and felt that this then meant if he was playing golf it was working. Coincidentally his father went and requested a full bag of Titleist gear be supplied to him FOC of course.

Hi Mary
How is your lad getting on.
[Not implying that you are megga rich of course!!]

He did Stage One of Q school in France, but didn't get through. It sounds like he's been having putting lessons from Lee Westwood!

Bank of Mum sometimes takes a hit, but he has also done temp jobs such as labouring for a builder, shelf stacking, bar work etc to fund his game. Unless you finish in Top 8 on EuroPro, you are running at a loss - but they have the attraction of being able to offer Challenge Tour card to top 5 on Order of Merit, so the lads continue to plough the money in.

I shall be watching out for Martin Sell (Wrag Barn) at Stage Two.

Yes...good to see Martin doing so well.

I see the Wilts men won the Counties final AGAIN. For a small golfing county they are doing amazingly well. In golfing terms they are about 1/5th the size of Surrey, Lancs, Yorks etc.
