Are These Irons Any Good For a Novice?

I bet it like hitting a bit of corrugated iron stapled to a a rolled up bit of tin foil.

Save your money lads & spend it on beer

You say that but a good mate of mine who plays off 12 uses Dunlop irons he bought one at a time from JJB sports for £7.99 a club and he hits a better iron than most other 12 handicappers I have played with.
Don't knock 'em 'til you've tried 'em.

Fair point mate & i usually abide by the "don't knock it" logic but,in this case,i'm knocking :D

If you get a set & manage to do 18 without losing at least 1 clubhead,i'll give you your score back :D :D

First set of golf clubs I ever used were nicked out of my father in laws garage, old set of "palm springs" (or something) blades that were as rusty as old nails and had grips on them like Jensen Buttons tyres.
Couldn't hit pussy with them but they still got me hooked and have put me where I am now...

Unable to hit pussy using expensive forged Mizunos.
;)

I bought a Ryder lob wedge(I believe onyx is the new brand name for Ryder) from argos when I started playing and it was'nt bad at all. All seemed fine to me and kept in one piece. You can't go wrong for the price. In fact i've just reserved a set (last one available in Ipswich) to leave in the boot of my car for trips to the range.
