Are These Irons Any Good For a Novice?

Any good for a novice...

Iron Set at Argos

I've got a 2nd hand set of Irons, but some are worse for wear. I've only just started playing golf (at the range), so i don't really want to spend loads on a quality set yet.

You'd pay more than that for a dozen half decent balls!!

You're not going to win the Open with them but if you are just starting out they will help you sort out whether you want to carry on playing the game or not. As a novice you won't be able to tell the difference between a good strike of the ball with one of those and a bad strike with a Mizuno... ;)

And at that price you can afford to throw them in a lake if you get fed up with them
;)

Cheers for the replys.

I think i'll get these unless anyone can point me in the direction of a better set at a bargain price.

Any suggestions?

You could pick up a 2nd hand set on ebay for £20 and at least the shafts will be made of metal rather than plasticine like those Argos ones will be.

£20 for a set of irons? Novice or not mate,i'd look to fork out slightly more than that. You get what you pay for & all that. Could be the difference between you sticking with the game or jacking it in cos' of s**t clubs.

They look decent for the money so maybe worth a go to see if you like the game if you do you could always pass them on to another newbie golfer

Apollo shafts in them so they are half decent

Go for them you have nothing to lose

What a deal! Grab 'em and go play. I'm going to get a set for spare. I expect they are not up to much, but presumably, they are just getting shot of stock.

If he's that much of a novice air shots feel exactly the same whatever club you use!!
Give 'em a bash...they can't be any worse than the cack I started out playing with.
At least the grips will be grippy
;)

theese irons are good for noone or nothing, infact theese irons are not even good for poking the fire. £19.99 for a set of irons and Argos make a profit out of them. lol i didnt think it was possible to get a set of irons for this cheap.. They are S**TE. dont do it.. someone mentioned get some off ebay if you are after a bargain set.... go with that advice, dont buy theese. Im not an expert by any stretch but god they must be absolutley awful. infact, bollox to it, im gonna buy a set and see what they are like.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Actually, if you click on the piccie of them to enlarge it, they don't look a bad clubhead at all.
As long as they stay attached to the shaft I reckon you could do some serious damage with those.
Christ that's less than £3.00 a club! The grips would cost you that. I'm seriously tempted myself.

Do you think they do custom fitting??????

I bet it like hitting a bit of corrugated iron stapled to a a rolled up bit of tin foil.

Save your money lads & spend it on beer

You say that but a good mate of mine who plays off 12 uses Dunlop irons he bought one at a time from JJB sports for £7.99 a club and he hits a better iron than most other 12 handicappers I have played with.
Don't knock 'em 'til you've tried 'em.
