Can't vouch for the course as, despite it being within walking distance, I haven't played it yet , but I've been in the clubhouse a few times and was well impressed. They have managed to strike the delicate balance between first rate service in a lovely facility without making it stuffy and formal. Nice place.

Only hole in the Fidra that I don't really like is the Par 3 13th. From the whites there is a barrier of gorse that makes it a it of a blind shot. Not a bad joke just think the gorse is a bit unnecessary.

I've never played the Direlton however my boss who was a member suggested the Fidra is the course people should play if it's a one off or a rare offer

The houses are in their own wee enclave and are of various styles. Every so often one does come up for sale around the £750k mark. They are also building new single story houses down by the shore

Never mind the course/club, I'm still reeling from the fact there are houses in Scotland worth £750k!!! - the worlds gone mad

Walked the fidra today for the Paul Lawrie matchplay. It is in sensational condition. Would describe it as more coastal parkland than links. Lots of fairways lined with big pine trees. Facilities look amazing (range etc)

If you get it on a quiet day my advice would be to play the front 9 on the Fidra followed by the back 9 on the Direlton, you won't be disappointed. We normally play it way when we can.

Just watching a bit of PL Matchplay for the first time and think the course looks really nice. Reminds me a little of Formby.

What are the green fees.....? I cant see anything on the website . Thinking it might be worth a trip up and some point.

I see the Links Cup organisers are having a 36 hole comp on both courses there for about £165, is that worth it? End of April next year....
