I like them. Hit them well when I tried them at Titleist's demo day at Silvermere. Simple (boring) answer but try before you buy and see how you hit them

I had the early ap1s and loved them, played last year with a guy off 5 who was a great ball striker and he wasn't fussed with blades, smaller heads etc, he was really happy with his 714 AP1s.

I had the 710 AP1s. They are good clubs and off 10 you'll find them very easy to hit. One thing they do launch pretty high so you might want a shaft to bring that down a bit. I just changed to JPX 850 Forged. Personally I preferred the forged feel to cast. Happy shopping with whatever you choose

I got fitted for the 714s through GM.
Have had them for two year now and still get on really well with them, so no immediate plan to change.
Tiger did mention they launch quite high, can't say I have noticed that though.

They did for me with the DG stock shaft in but mine were a couple of generations older than yours. I had PX 5.5 put in and tat brought the spin rate and launch down for me. That said long term I hated the PXs

Mine have xp95 shafts in them. Not sure what you would expect from them though. I do have a tendency to deloft a little so possibly that helps keep the height down.

If you're looking at the latest 716s then try the AP2s as well, especially off your HC. I had a fitting this week trying both side by side and I found I was getting much better (which for me means higher) ball flight with the AP2s. And extra distance. Both really good clubs though, I had tried them both the week before more informally just hitting the off the shelf demo clubs and had gone actually into the fitting expecting to buy the AP1s.

I really don't think handicap has anything to do with what irons you play. I'm off 6 and I'm about to order the ap1's. For me they were much better than the ap2's and the cb's. As my fitter said, tour pros use the Ap1's too.

Just get fitted if you can or definitely try as many as you can before pulling the trigger.

If, like me, you don't like the larger/chunky head on the AP1, the AP2s are pretty easy to hit, and the T-MB long irons are fantastic (I love my 4 iron).
