As it says on the tin, anyone in to their motorbikes??

Hate the term biker but get why folk use it, would like to think I'm a motorcyclist.

What you got ?

Got rid of my last one a couple of years ago, after 40 years of biking. The last one was a Triumph Street Triple R, and I was still a hooligan. Got rid of my tourer, a Honda VFR 800, the year before.

Not really fussed what label people use... maybe prefer biker.

What made you get rid of them ? Just done it long enough ?

I've got 3 at the moment but really should sell my GS as I hate it but will keep the others.

I could tell you what I've had but as you think I'm an arse you're probably not interested

One things for certain, cabby has great judgment :smirk:

Anywhose, I'm interested in what motorcycles you've had, please do share;)

Got too painful getting on and off. Thought about buying something like a Triumph America but have never really been into cruising style of riding - too much of a balls out, pin the throttle sort of rider.

That said, I miss biking and may well buy the America this year in Spain...

Gave up any pretence to ride motorbikes years ago, after my best mate ripped his foot apart going down the side of a Volvo on his BMW K100, (at least he wrote the Volvo off:)) and my brother broke his back after a person from an African country who had no license, or insurance in a borrowed untaxed car decided to do a U-turn unannounced right in front of my brother. His bike was ok (GS550) but the Sierra was a write-off.....
My wifes brother was also killed on one,a dick head doing a u turn on a blind bend caused him to go up then down, at too slow a speed this time landing him on his head.
It's fair to say if I was to get on powered 2 wheels my wife would castrate me before and again when I got home.......

Do it BM, get one! At least you'd be living life close the the edge, even when asleep...

Had a GP100 thirty years ago. Got rid when I came off after hitting some black ice after a year or so. Never had the urge to get a bigger one after that. Also, my best mate was killed on his 15 years ago when a guy aged 87 pulled out in front of him. It would seem that most bike riders are injured by careless car drivers than their own stupidity or lack of talent.

Sorry but that's not my experience, all but one of the fatalities that I know of have been rider error, same with most offs the I know of.

One of the saddest days of my life was when I sold the last of my bikes as I was no longer able to ride due to injuries sustained in a bloody car crash.

By that time I was into trials riding and the bike was a Beamish Suzuki. Continued to be involved with Yamaha and organised a Moto Cross team for the AMCA Championships.

If I thought that the body could withstand it I would be back like a shot, even at 69!!

Love trials, had a few, currently got a 2017 sherco 300

Just Googled Sherco and its origins.

I really am getting old as I remember Sammy Miller and the original Bultaco Sherpa.

Revolutionary in 1966

I used to regularly cycle past his motorcycle museum in the New Forest. Never been in but apparently it is very good.

One day I must visit as he has some fantastic machines and seems very willing to run many of them in parades and race meetings.
