Anyone have a good solo game to play when alone on the course?

Just go out and enjoy being out and playing on the course, leave any serious stuff for the competitions. Too much thought into your golf doesn't do your game any good at all :D

Matchplay against the course, you get your shots at SI you are due and the course always scores par.

Thanks Great idea this one even for when playing a bounce match with partners as suddenly feels like a bit more pressure on the putts. However was i meant to walk off when went 5&3 down on the 15th today?

Better at the range or practice area / putting green imo than walking the course on your own. Time you've walked from tee to ball you could've perfected for example 7 or 8 practice bunker shots! Will do your game more good hitting rather than walking.

Sorry but totally disagree. Not only do I find a solo round great for clearing my head especially after a crap day in work, but and more importantly, the course is the only place to learn to play shots from different lies. Easy from a flat range mat

Would concur with the range mat to a degree but I was referring to practice areas too with grass/sand as well. I would have walked the course more as a youngster but would rather practice hitting balls than walking now time pressures are at a premium. Would find solid practice for an hour more theraputic too after a stressful day than 7 or 8 holes of solo golf. I often enjoy practice. Appreciate I may be in the minority there and everyone is different.

We have a grass practice area at my club. I've found, especially over the last few years that in the summer I'd be on there and not the course, trying to hone something that probably didn't need working on. I will be making sure I am out playing far more this summer and if I am working on my game then that will be bunkers, pitching, chipping and putting. I am going to let my playing be my long game work, subject to no major flaw creeping in (at which point I'll get a lesson).

I love working on my game as my blog and posts on here will concur but it's got to the point where I feel I've stagnated and got fixated on my swing where I should be working out how to score, perhaps arguably more so when I'm not striking it 100%

I've posted a few weeks ago with my thoughts on your live lessons. I pointed out those 'major flaws' and the reasons why you will struggle for consistency. Your pro also lets you get away with murder swing wise.

I did see your comments and checked out the blog, did think you were very honest and fair with your views, brutally frank even;), also fair play to HJS for putting his golf online for all to see and critique. I'm not brave enough to do that.
Can you change the swing of a man in his 50s with decades of ingrained golf that much though, can't be easy? Or do you just try and work with what's basically there and tweak a little as his coach may be doing?

For whatever reason HJS doesn't seem to what to discuss my constructive criticism. I am more than happy to debate his game and swing. I find it a little rude that he hasn't acknowledged my posts. I've taken the time to watch his live lessons, suggest where he needs to change and even posted a video to help him.

Can you change a 50 year olds swing? of course you can. It requires work from both the pupil and the teacher. In this individual case, I don't think the pro is doing enough for him. He repeats the same swing fault over and over and the pro doesn't interject.

As I said, I was just trying to help. I don't like to see someone wasting their time and money trying to improve when simple improvements are staring me in the face.
