On a round where I shot 32 points a well established and respected member at my course told me it was a joke that I received two shots at any hole. He made this comment at a 115 yard par three.
Needless to say I hated playing the rest of that round.
Been there myself at our 3rd hole 210yd par 3 had a bogey for 3 pts and it just gets into my head then and dinged the next few holes because I was annoyed then struggled out of annoyance and frustration at letting them get at me.
Since stopped playing with that group of people and started playing much better because I felt more relaxed and able to concentrate easier.
After taking lessons all year I have only started to swing well since qualifying ended. But I am what the pro calls "In a transitional period" I just haven't got the consistency completely, I know what I want to do and my brain knows how to swing but the body hasn't quite picked it up to get me the muscle memory repetitiveness.
I have a hooking problem at the moment and know why and working on it. But it causes me alot of dings and when i get it right gives me alot of pars and today a great birdie.
Just as a follow on from the hcap thing, it has been commented on by a few of the guys I play with and even the pro that someday soon it's going to sink in and they are waiting on me coming in with 50 points.
Being non-qualifying I can't get cut, new season for us starts end of March so plenty of time for me to practice and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't win a few weeks in a row either. Or possibly more if I put in the effort with practice etc.
What would your views be on that being that I
A. Spent all year taking lessons and practicing to swing correctly, and
B. Still played almost every weekend competition both stroke and stableford and a good few mid week competitions as well and put in scores that I know many would NR to hide the embarrassment of having everyone see it up on the board.
Because personally I feel that IF I can start the season knowing I have that advantage not only will it be a big confidence booster but it's my chance to get my name on a trophy and try and win some prize money back after paying out all 2011 and last part of 2010. So I know that IF i can then I won't be asking to get cut on general play.
