Anyone changing ball for the winter?

I'll stop using pro v's now and use some AD333's ive got. Last year i used DT solo but they were a little hard so ive just sold them on ebay, for more than £15 you can buy them for in sports direct ha ha ha!

I currently have a bag full of pro v1's thanks to the genorosity of another forum member (no, I haven't lost them all yet:D) but I was thinking with the weather changing if using a premium ball was really worth it, and I might be better off going for a cheap distance ball. Anyone else do the same?

I'm giving the Bridgestone RX tour a go.

That said, if I don't get on with them, I'll pick some pearl, 1 hitter pro v's up from eBay :D

There are some who would say that you are actually changing to a better ball by going to the RX Tour from a Pro V1.

In any event winter conditions are unlikely to assist research.

Disagree pal.

The RX version has no where near as much spin as a pro v. I highlighted as much after a recent test. Bridgestone also market it as having less spin than the Titleist.

The RXS my be similar to the pro v but the RX isn't in the same league. Good off a putter face thought

I'll probably stick with what I know.

But the Pro V1x isn't exactly renowned for spin.

Any way I sometimes wonder about the obsession with spin, when talking about club-golfers as the vast majority of our approach shots come up short of the hole anyway.

I'm going to try a yellow Volvik vista vi ball for the winter got a dozen coming from the US. Read good reviews about the ball so will give it a go. Will review it after a few rounds

No need for a premium ball imho when the course is playing long and greens are like rice pudding. I don't really need extra spin and feel so happy with something firmer. Also like the way the mid range balls often keep their brightness better playing in muddy conditions.

or even a DTS solo ,

Won a sleeve of these in the H4H raffle and used one for a few holes on Sunday before rain and lightning forced us to abandon the round. I was actually pretty impressed with it. Also have some Mizuno D201's to try.

I like these they're good balls

For winter I tend to use pinnicle gold yellow balls, I find them to be good enough for winter use and at £10 odd for 15 they don't exactly break the bank

I am in a complete quandary. I usually play pro v but bought some cheap AD333 from pro shop for winter use. However I found them to feel utterly dead off the putter face. After 3 holes I went back to the pro v. Am I the only one to experience this.

Absolutely with you on this one. Would say that characteristic of the AD333 is beneficial on fast greens. You don't usually get fast greens in the winter therefore not a winter ball. This is my least favourite of the Srixon range - i am also convinced that i'm losing distance when i've experimented with them. Pro V1x for me on those cold winter Saturday mornings.

the balls don't spin on approach shots in winter. they plug !

its still nice to use a soft ball for chipping! a rock is still a rock in winter ! :p

Just carry on using the same balls all year round - use the old ones through the winter

I used some of these for winter swingmaster.jpg....bought 100 cheap last year.

Although they seem to mix in well with the leaves on the ground, so may just dip into the plastic bag of old crap white balls and use those....I've got numerous taylormade burners or callaway hex tours that I HATE during summer.
