Anyone been to a ball fitting?

I went to the Bridgestone Ball fitting at my club, the guy started by asking me what I currently used which I think at the time was the callaway ix tour balls.
He got me to hit a few of them with one of these launch monitor/trackman gizmo's set up and then a few with bridgestone's offerings he then showed me the difference in flight/distance on a nice little colour printout graph thing.
Looked all very impressive on paper.

He then explained a bit about the balls then gave me away a sleeve of the B330s (blue packet) and Ive never looked back!

Cant fault them, There as good as Pro V and cost roughly a tenner a dozen less.

sounds like it is well worth doing, must be good to see actually see a difference on the monitor stats rather than how you think it has flown.

I will back this up with an example. A few summers ago, I played golf every Wednesday with a mate off plus 2. We always made it a fun round and added a bit of a wild card element to level things up a bit. Persimmon woods, 1 irons for every tee shot etc. These included a few rounds where we had to select a ball for each other to play with with the only rule being that it had to be new from the pro shop.

His normal ball was a Titleist Pro V1. Over the 3 rounds that I recall, I bought him a Wilson Staff Titanium Distance, a Pinnacle Lady in pink and a Top Flite XL2000 lake ball. Every round he played these balls with was under par. With the Wilson, he shot 5 under and chipped in twice!

I don't know that it does. To me, both you and him off very low handicaps have the swing and the skill to get it round regardless and so chipping in is more about his skill level than the ball.

I think a lot of players are railroaded into premium balls either through bad advice (AG) peer group pressure because their mates play with them or plain ignorance. I'm not sure I'd go the whole hog for a fitting although I did get a mini one from the guy at Srixon at Maidenhead when it was quiet one afternoon. Was already using Z star and just wanted to find out if it was the ball for me. Figures showed not ideal but spin rates weren't killing me either.

I do think there needs to be more advice offered to newbies, high handicappers and heck even guys like me off 13. I wonder if a 2 piece like the AD333 would make more sense. My biggest fear is in the summer and using something other than a premium ball in terms of trying to get it to hold the harder greens.

Not sure if a fitting would work. But and its a big but. If you have a ball you have confidence in you will play better. Than one you do not feel happy with. Even if that one would be better for your level of play. So if it works for you go for.

Just home from a Bridgestone Ball Fitting.

Over the last couple years i've alternated between Pro V1x, Srixon Z Star, Srixon Z Star X and the Bridgestone RXS. At the fitting I first hit the Pro V1x 5 times then the RXS 5 times. Longest ball was the Titleist but was also the shortest when not struck in the middle. The most consistent and straightest ball was the RXS. Because my swing speed was 101.6mph, I didn't fully compress the Titleist ball so unless I got the middle of the club, it would have more backspin and sidespin than the Bridgestone.
Happy with the results
Launch angle was 12.8 degrees
Backspin was 2212 rpm, a little low but not bad.
From the results i'll stick with the RXS, looking forward to the new ones coming out, with the double dimple pattern for more stability in the wind and a slightly softer cover.
