My handicap was 21.0 exactly and i then proceeded to play a round of 88 around a par 72 course and then a round of 83 around the same course a few days later, i was wondering if anybody would be able to work out what my new handicap should be for me?

thanks alot

Like Ken said, your handicap will only come down, or go up for that matter, if one or both of the rounds you state were in handicap qualifying competitions.

At my club, you will come down 0.2 for every stroke you are below the CSS/SSS for that day. Not sure if thats standard across the board at every course though.

Hope this helps

CONGU Handicap categories are
Cat 1: up to 5.4 (0.1 decrease per stroke under CSS)
Cat 2: 5.5 to 12.4 (0.2 decrease)
Cat 3: 12.5 to 20.4 (0.3 decrease)
Cat 4: 20.5 and over (0.4 decrease)

Starting Handicap is 21.0

Assuming CSS was 72 on both days:

88-21 = 67 which is 5 under CSS

2 strokes (0.4x2) come off under cat 4 (21.0 down to 20.2). Then your handicap is in Cat 3 so take three more strokes off under cat 3 (3x0.3=0.9), so 20.2 becomes 19.3

2nd round:
83 - 19 = 64.

8 strokes off under category 3 = 8x0.3 = 2.4

So, new handicap should be 19.3 - 2.4 = 16.9

Nice scoring, well done.

Was your handicap adjusted between round 1 and round 2 ?

Round 2 should have been played off a lower handicap surely?
