I have 3 plant pots in the garden, looking for some flowers/bulbs/plant pots or whatever to brighten up the garden. The pots are about 18" in diameter.
I'm just looking for something cheap and cheerful.
Any suggestions?

For brightness...Fuschias! But a bit unimaginative, as they work better in he garden or hanging baskets!

For Soft elegance...small leafed/dwarf Japanese Maples

Rhododendrums CAN work, but can be bit tricky!

If you want scent, Daphne can work too - Odora even in Winter! And Lilles are hard to beat! Regale particularly, with pots protecting the bulbs from slugs and virtually guaranteeing yearly blooms with low maintenance!

Your local Garden Centre is actually the best source, as they will know what works best in your area!

Get some blueberry bushes. Little white flowers to brighten the garden up and then fruit to eat later in the year. Just make sure you read up on whether they like acid or alkali soil and get the right stuff to go in the pots.

Ok chaps, thanks for that, even though I didn't understand half of what you said, lol.
Brightness is the key, hard word, tricky, acid and alkali soil is all way beyond me. Haha
Good shout, I'll take a trip to the local garden centre
