After smashing 3 shots off my pb during last Saturday's medal for a gross 83, I went out for 18 this afternoon with a bit of trepidation, as it was my first round as an 18 handicapper.

I've no idea what is going on but I posted a gross 82! A new best!

I was a bit more erratic off the tee today than I was at the weekend, but my short game is kicking butt, especially my putting. I was 1 over gross after 7 holes but had a bit of a wobble on 9 and 10, with a couple of silly double bogeys. Steadied the ship but had another wobble on 15 and 16. Really didn't think I was doing well after the numerous doubles on the back 9, so after a bogey on 17 I totted the numbers up. I'd scored a new best gross 39 (+4) on the front, and was 9 over on the back so needed a par on the last to level my best. I hit a cracking 5 iron to 15 feet knowing it was for an 82. Talk about pressure. Anyway, lined my ball up and put a perfect stroke on it. Dropped for a birdie 2, a big fist pump, and a smile that is still on my face!

My last 3 rounds have been 86, 83 and this afternoons 82. Chuffed to bits with how it's going but am petrified of the streak ending! As long as it continues long enough to see off a few of the Old Farts at Woodhall, I'll be happy! ;)

Achilles you are on fire!!!!! I'm so happy for you having seen you progress from gratitude to just getting back on the course, to frustration and now to joy it's awesome. I'm rooting for you to break 80 in your next competition you are so capable :) Very well played and long may it continue

Kind words Tiger! It's certainly been an interesting 12 months. Seems unbelievably surreal to think this time last year I was still in my boot and on crutches. How things have changed! As for breaking 80 in my next comp, one step at a time!

Nice one mate.

I am also chuffed with my game, had 1 round before this week since the end of September so due to the good weather treated myself to a game at Kilmacolm and played with a friend who is a member at Largs (Kelburn) today.

36 points on both occasions, and that was with a few nightmare holes. 2 birdies today and could have easily have been 5 birdies, had 3 putts right in the jaws of the hole.

Hopefully this good form keeps up for the opening medal on Saturday. Maybe a wee cut if I take this away course form to my own stomping ground.

Wowzer - wish my game could survive a break like that. If I don't play for even a few weeks I forget which end to hold my clubs ;)

Hope you have a good one Saturday fella. Let us know how it goes!
