Played the normal weekly 3 ball yesterday with Imurg and CVG

Twas a lovely day, very hot, bits of breeze, the course rock hard and playing long as you would expect.

The first 9 we all played very average golf
I had 13 pts, Imurg 15 and CVG 16, we were all making mistakes, putts weren't dropping, and we were all looking at sub 30 points for the round.

Im not sure what then happened , but we all played really well on the back nine, I managed 25 points ,( cue shouts of Bandito), the other 2 got 20 points each.

so we ended on Fragger 38, CVG 36, Imurg 35

Yes I beat them both for the first time YYEESSSSS!!!!!

But what I want to know is what changed for all of us, coz we all went from rubbish to very good in the blink of an eye.

I will never understand this game

Why was it playing long if warm and rock hard? Most courses will never play shorter than now.
It plays long if you duff drives off the tee!!
There's something wrong in this world if Fragger can par the last 3 holes, 3 of the trickiest, scoring 11 points in the process and still be able to walk off the course on 2 legs........

Maybe I need to clarify

To me the course is playing long when you hit the ball and it keeps on going after it hits the floor = L O N G

When you hit it and it goes plop in the mud and rolls on 3 ft, thats short in my book

Forgive me if this does not tie in with standard golf terminology.

And yes I hit a bit of a purple patch, CVG had 2 4 pointers on the trot as well.

The trick is to do it again next week, and then all the way round

It does not, but you are forgiven.

Playing long is when you need to hit longer clubs than usual due to weather conditions, not personal duffing conditions.

I managed 25 points,(cue shouts of Bandito),

7 under your h'cap for 9 holes? I'm saying nothing... :o

I know Imurg was shaking his head and asking how i could live with myself.

What this proves is that I have the ability to play some good golf, and over that back 9 1 played out of my skin.

Can I do it again this week, that is the $64000 question.

What I do know is that I have a good chance to break 90, go on from there and knock 5 off my handicap

its that consistency issue again

I noted that flavour to his response, but figured that a PC/Windows engineer saying that they learnt something new every day was also sarcastic.
