Annual subscription 2026

A 5% rise at mine to around 1100. I've already decided I'm leaving though and have not decided if I'll join somewhere else or become a nomad for a while.
I think it's the most expensive club I've been a member at and the course is lovely. The deal breaker for me has been the sloth like pace of play on almost every round this year and it really kills the enjoyment of a round. Alternating between 7min and 8 minute gaps doesn’t work with a lot of 4 balls going out.

Probably my last year at mine
Ours went up around 6% to £1,426.00
When it breaks through the £1,500.00 mark I'm off, either to a cheaper club or nomad.

Is it that simple? Surely if subs go up so do green fees so it’s all relative. I’d find it impossible to define a pinch point, it’s like saying diesel is £1.39p/l, if it gets to £1.40 p/l I’m selling the car.

Yes, it's that simple.
I used to love everything about the place, but a combination of issues has blunted my enjoyment.
I have played maybe 4x times since October, OK the weather has been bad, but tbh I haven't missed playing.
So yeah, £1,500 is just too much
I can do so much other stuff with that money.

Me likewise - though one thing that I can't do in my part of the world for it is be a member of another decent members golf club. Just a fact of life that I have to accept if I want to be a member of the sort of club I've been a member of since 22yrs. It's going to be a bit painful but there you go 🤷‍♂️

7 and 8 minutes is very tight. It surely overloads the course. I obviously don’t know your course, but assuming that in the first three holes you have a par 3 of medium length, taking around an average 10 - 12 minutes to play, then R&A advice is to have a tee interval closer to 10 minutes.
It’s taken a season or two of moving from 8 to 10 minutes to convince our membership that the benefits of 10 minute intervals is worth the reduced number of tee times, but the number of complaints of slow play has dramatically reduced - I know because they come to me.

This is exactly why I play between 7.30 & 9am. We run an open tee sheet in this period and groups do not tee off until the group in front is near at the green. For the large percentage this is where they play their chip on from and it’s around 400yds from the tee uphill. Spaces the groups lovely and if we out before 8, 3.5hr rounds are standard!

Ours used to be alternate 7/8 minutes and very often there was a bit of wait on one tee in particular.
New manager wanted 10 minutes
Club captain agreed to 9 minutes
Now - it can be very hard to even get a game on a Saturday morning for all those that want to play, there are often gaps on the 1st tee as may groups will go out as soon as it is safe to do so. Will still have occasional waits on the same tee. Saturday morning rounds are still over 4 hours which has not changed just because of the change in change in tee times

My opinion is that it is better to have a slow round than no round.
