Oh crumbs you've gone all technical on me. I truely have no idea.
A player’s differential for any score submitted for handicap is largely determined by the Course Rating and Slope for the course played. The average of the best 8 Differentials out of those for the last 20 scores submitted determines a player’s handicap index, and so for any course played his course handicap…and hence his playing handicap.

So given that Course Rating and Slope are determined by a number factors that include bunker positioning - then bunker positions will affect every player’s playing handicap to some degree.

Sorry if I’ve been ‘teaching granny to suck eggs’ with that.

My place have just sent an e mail offering a two year deal to current members. It's never happened before.
Any reason why they are doing it now?

I’d assume:

1) they are trying to raise money for improvements and an interest free loan from members is cheaper than a bank loan.
2) member retention could be an issue so paying two years per renewal could help.
3) they are in the stook and need a cash injection.

Hopefully it’s #1

Ask what percentage of fixed costs are covered by subs and how will the gap in revenue in year two be accommodated?

No idea. But I have heard there are quite a few leaving. A bunch of lads that came from a nearby course, they had a bit of a row there and came on another offer we had, are off to another place that has a good offer on. Two "young" lads I spoke to are off due to a better deal available at our nearset rival course (young persons coming up to 30). And that's what I know of, and I don't mingle too much with all the different groups that are playing at our place. A massive opportunity was missed when the committee sold off a big chunk of land for £50k and did up the womens changing rooms (we have about 20 women LOL). Most realise that the land should have been developed and two new holes built and two holes removed from the course and a driving range built, right next to a major road. Sure the outlay would have been a lot but a driving range brings in money ALL YEAR ROUND! Oh, and I'm off as well.

If it were 1).Then you would think that a note be attached to the e mail explaining why this would be a good thing. I think it is 3). I also think it will scare members off.
