Annual subscription 2026

Guess it will depend on what type of club

For us the accounts are sent out during agm papers which includes the proposed sub changes that members need to vote through

And surely minutes of meetings each month should have an accounts summary
No vote on subs changes. You are just told what they are and its months before the AGM.

Yet to find out if it's the same at new club.

Wow. That's great. Is it the same with annual subs payments? All subs due in full and non refundable at club we are leaving even if something happens one day into the year you've paid for.
To be honest, we give a lot of autonomy to the GM, he is very fair when it comes to genuine life issues if you’ve paid up front.

Then members should just ask to see them.
Or get the committee to agree to change the publication date of accounts to align with subscriptions.
My place has the EGM (don't know why it's called that rather than an AGM, but don't care) 3 weeks before subs are due. I think it should be a month ideally. So we all know about planned expenditure and projects, etc, plus balances and budget for following year ahead of subs due.
Ours is pretty much the same, though we don't get the opportunity to vote on next years subs, which is how it should be in my view. However yours and mine are member owned clubs, for privately owned clubs, there's is little chance of anyone in the club seeing the accounts and they certainly will not be voting on costs of subs.

Total was £3085.50, which includes "affiliation" fee of £29.50 and a mandatory bar levy of £250 (which I can spend without blinking!), so £2810, which was due 1st Jan.
That's £160 increase, up 6% from £2650 last year.
Which isn't bad as increases go, but blimey, it's pricey to begin with in Kent!
Hope that is a top quality course?

Mental bar levy imo. I genuinely don’t think I’d get near that in a year would be dead money to me.
I eat lunch after most rounds, circa £13.
I have a coffee before the round, £2.70.
A round post golf if I'm buying, £20.
Can be used at club functions and Sunday lunch.
Plus I can use it in the pro shop, so it's more a club levy, as Phil's point.
So, I easily spend it.

Fair play mate no questioning it for others just know I’d struggle with it due to other commitments. But if you can spend in the shop that’s a big difference and I may well get value there.

I like to think it is.
Private members club, established 1890. Braid made alterations for us in the 1920s.
Held open qualifying in the past too.
I think it's one of the best inland courses in Kent, but then I'm biased!
That last line is 100% agree with. Haven’t played it in years but was always one of the best in the area, played a lot of junior opens and county league games there. Was always the one we used to relish visiting for an away game or open.
