Stupid comments but to lose their jobs over it is totally OTT, IMO.

After Fat Ron went, there was never going to be any other outcome.

Noone at Sky is going to stand up and say Racism is really bad, but Sexism is only a little bit bad.

I actually think Keys is worse off as presenters are two a penny. Gray will be damaged goods and it'll take a brave executive to get him on air anytime soon. I can't see him going into management. He's already tried as assistant manager at Villa and was no great shakes there. I think the game has moved on too much for him. I guess it'll be good for his handicap though as he'll have lots of time to practice

Someone, somewhere will employ Gray. Football is worldwide remember so there'll be some TV channel in some country that will take him on.
Keys is a different story but he'll probably find work as he wasn't as bad as Gray (or so the media are making out). Plus, he resigned, he wasn't sacked.

I see where you are coming from but lets not forget Atkinson and Desailly haven't featured anywhere since their racist outburst. I think a lot of TV channels are needing to be seen as pure for the sake of the advertising revenues. The problem Keys has is that I think he has made some enemies (so I've been led to believe) and that there a lots of people particularly at Sky not too sad to see him go. Whether someone like ESPN (although technically Sky) or the terrestrial channels would want him is open to debate. I don't think he's really got the persona or the in depth knowledge outside of football to really be that viable.

I said something similar at work today. AG must have annoyed someone at SKY for them to publicise his sexism.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to their careers.

Maybe AG's putting in a call to Bernard Manning as we speak........ :)

Being a white hetrosexual British male born in 1970 I feel I am now a minority. I don't have anyone fighting my corner but if I comment on someone elses colour, nationality, sexuality or sexual preference then I am as ostricised and banished to the darkest corner or Kirkcaldy.

SERIOUSLY .....

Can someone please clarify something.

IS A JOKE ABOUT SOMEONES RACE, SEXUALITY OR sexual preference automatically racist, sexist or homophobic?

Thankfully AG has been sacked, I cant stand him, I never listened to him when he was on. Someone said he was getting to big for his boots, that happened 15 years ago. A real smartarse, knew everything but could do nothing only talk a good game. Good riddence....

1) Not if it isn't funny.
2) Yes if its intent is malicious.
3) Yes if some one takes offence.

Freedom of speech? -not if you say it out load.

And there in lies the problem. People are too easily offended. We are turning into a bunch of lilly livered individuals who are only happy if we get some poor bugger sacked.

Keys and Gray are poor buggers? Come on.

The kind of conversations they had belongs down the pub not in their workplace and not when there are cameras rolling and microphones on.

Would you really expect to talk about a woman as it, talking about smashing it and hanging out the back of it in front of your colleagues at work? I don't think so.

It was utter stupidity for them to talk like that with cameras and mics around.

If they'd worked for any organisation of any size and said stuff like that, they'd be disciplined and possibly gone.

The fact that the matter received massive publicity meant that they were dead men walking.

The thing that really struck me was that this was clearly viewed as normal acceptable behaviour within the studio. It is clear to me that a culture was in place that made them think it was ok to say this kind of thing.

Sky clearly wanted to change that and jumped at the chance to get rid of them.

As far as freedom of speech goes, you are perfectly entitled to say what you like in your home, with your friends and anywhere that isn't your workplace. Is that really such a hardship? Is your freedom of speech really that curtailed?

Hardly.

HRC, I am not saying that G&K are the poor buggers I was refering to and I can see your point but in 2008 I was in a sales meeting and 3 girls were laughung looking at a mobile so when we stopped for lunch I asked the girl whose phone it was what was so funny and she said she had filmed her and her boyfriend doing the deed and was showing them the movie. I have heard more filth from the mouths of women than I have from men in a profesional environment. Another girl used to use her pictures in Nuts and Zoo magazines to get her customers to place an order.
