So after my recent bad spell of driving which was usually my strongest part of my game Sunday took a dive for the worst and from a possible 13 driver holes, after 6 driver holes the club got bagged as only 2 were of any decent standard. The next driver holes were attacked with a 3w in hand, and the result was 7 fairways hit and split bang down the middle.

With a total loss of faith I hit the range Tuesday with the old and new driver (see length vs consistency on page 2). Convinced that the r11 was worth the effort in the form of extra distance tonight was lesson time. I cannot believe the outcome!

R11 stiffer blur shaft - better suited to me than older reax stiff shaft

So what's the issue............ I'm quitting on my drives which my pro is putting down to loss of confidence! We spent around 20 mins pinging drives back to back r11 vs burner and it was simple. The swing with the old burner is more relaxed and care free, but still that little White headed stick in my hands and a crumble like a rusty mini metro!

So saturday see's a new bag set up;

3w, 5w and 4 hybrid at the top end
5i-pw in my irons
52 & 58* in the wedges
Plus the putter.

So 12 clubs, let see how the score card pans out. As it is there is only 1 long par 4 at about 450 that could be a struggle for a GIR hit, but on the plus side that new lightweight bag is going to be floating with only 12 sticks in it!

I think you'll be OK. I tee off on our longest hole (par 4) with an iron and seem to make 5 no trouble. I even made a 3 once

Seve only needed a 3 iron to play any course in Par-2 so 12 clubs still seems generous.

Perhaps you now have space for more wedges ?

Ss2, my wedge set up is fine. I dropped my 60* in favour of a 58*. this gives me nice spacing, 46*, 52*, 58*. I'd get confused with any more.

Dave, there's One long par 4 at about 450, so a 3w and hybrid should be enough but if I drop a shot there it's not going to be a nightmare. As a junior I played my best golf with a 3w, the dry conditions should help too
