It is weird but if it was MY pal, I would have shaken his hand then washed my hands before touching anything or anyone but the thought of a strangers wee stained digits made me rather uncomfortable.

As for Tony's comment about a left handed shake, I agree but I do have knucle damage to my right hand and this was helpful with my alabi.

"the older guy in the group had problems controlling his bladder and had to nip behind a bush at the side of the 18th green and then played onto the green and putted out and here is where the problem arose . . ."

You're worried about dirty hands... what about the poor guy who has just been attacked in a delicate area by a swarm of midges. He's probably trying to explain to his wife just how he is so itchy at the moment, and do you realy think she'll believe when he says he had a pee in the bushes at the golf course ?

You should also relieve yourself, ensuring you leave a little deposit on your hand and warmly shake his hand..

Personally, I wouldn't have shaken his hand but would have told him why!

Evening folks,

I need your advice please regarding an incident that occured tonight during the Wednesday medal.

I was playing with two guys who were friends and welcomed me to join them in order to play in the medal. The round of golf was fair and quite non eventful until the 18th fairway ... the older guy in the group had problems controlling his bladder and had to nip behind a bush at the side of the 18th green and then played onto the green and putted out and here is where the problem arose . . . he offered me a hand shake with the hand that was holding his little member seconds earlier and I had a split second to think about it.

My question is ......

What would YOU have done in tha same situation?

P.S. I always carry hand sanitiser and I never 'go' on the course.

Here is how I avoided an awkward situation,

I held my hat and putter in my right hand and said I had hurt it playing my approach shot and he accepted my left handed hand shake ;)

Every once in a while a thread comes along that makes you laugh out loud and feel glad you're on this forum. This thread is one of 'em. Well done folks.

My take on it:

Put it this way, at least 60% (maybe more) of the blokes going into the pub loo for a waz won't wash their hands so when you wash yours and open the door to leave you just cancelled the effort out yet no one seems to die from it.

I can't often tie a knot in it as when I need to 'tap a kidney' I can't concentrate on the game.

MWJ's idea of 'The p1ss tee' and 'The p1ss tree' had me on the floor LMAO if only because most clubs probably have a tree somewhere on the edge of a fairway that's wilting and mingin' for no adequately explained reason.

Guess us men are like dogs, we like to mark our turf in the same spot.

Just remember when your hunting in the deep rough - no one ever made a brown golf ball so if you see one dont pick it up for keepsies

nothing wrong with a left-handed shake. were none of you in the scouts? just offer your left hand and if he comments say that it's a left over from your time with BP.

Maybe if you were trying to put a score together and not NR'ing you wouldn't have had the time to start thinking about damp handshakes! :(

This thread is pretty funny :D

However, if you think about how much bird, squirrel, badger and rabbit sh1te your ball has rolled through in the course of 18 holes (and how much you've handled your ball) and, given your proximity to the club house, how much difference is a bit of p1sh going to make ;)

Scouts shake with the left hand, its a throwback to the wars with the Zulus in Africa, You hold your sheild with your left arm/hand, and to shake with your left means you have to discard your shield, its a sign of trust

Re the OP, would it have been any better if he had gone on the 14th, you'd probably have forgotten it by the 18th.
At least had time to dry out

I'm fairly sure you will have plenty of nasties on your hands that your ball has picked up not to worry too much about someone who's just had a pee. The treatments the greenskeepers use are just one example. As long as you wash your hands in the clubhouse, I don't see a problem
