Ever since my driver fitting and getting a 3 wood with a stiff shaft I've been thinking about my irons, in particular the draw I get with them that has a lot of the not so redeeming features of a hook!
After a frustrating morning decided to go to the local driving range to play around with the settings on my driver and generally just to have a whack on my lunch.
As an aside, not been there for years but looks like its been taken over and is much better so I may well be back, especially given that I didn't get the chance to hit my driver.
Before going on the range I thought I'd have a look in the new shop (again, seems pretty good compared to what was there before).
Anyway, was looking at the second hand clubs and there they were.....
Cleveland CG1 blades, stiff shaft. They were tied up beside the rack with a price on them of £169. Asked the boy how much they'd sell them for. "£80"
So, I bought them there and then!
Had a hit with them and they were so nice to hit (even the 3 iron) got another basket and hit them all with the irons.
Has straightened out my draw no end, still a little there but not as extreme as before.
Was like going back to my youth hitting blades, they just look tremendous behind the ball. Can't wait to get them out on the course which will obviously go one of 2 ways, I just hope I can continue to hit them well as they are a joy to behold.
Then, I may be able to claim they are a bigger bargain than Aztecs Mizuno's
