Just having a poke around on the american golf website and found a bit about a free game analysis, basicaly take your gear along, the pro watches you hit a few, looks at your gear and makes any recomendations. Has anyone tried it? it does seem to me like a gloryfied sales pitch, or am I being a bit scynical:D

I think Homer is being a little unfair.
There are plenty of others doing it.
In fact when i went for my putter fitting at AG Exeter,i got the pro to see if he had a driver or
3 wood better than my present 3 wood.
After a few hits with a driver and some 3 woods the answer was no,simples,no pressure sales their.
To the OP try it,you never no it might be beneficial.

I'm in the same boat as Homer I'm afraid, AG are all about selling you 'whats on offer' in my experience, whether it's through a walk in customer or a booked appointment with your clubs.

Exactly what it is. If you want some unbiased advice talk to a PGA pro not a glorified salesman

Homer, next time you are Newbury way, pop into the AG in Thatcham. they have just employed 2 x PGA pro's...

If you go in, try and speak to Chris, tell him Rooter sent you. he will give completely unbiased opinion, he is golfer and golf pro first, an AG employee second IMHO.

guess its similar to the golf m.o.t. DG are offering at present, should be worth a try as long as its advice and not pressure they offer afterwards.
all stores are now said to employ a qualified golf pro so that argument falls down.

its a bit like popping to the corner shop or supermarket? pays your money and takes your choice?

I did the DG one when I bought my beginner's set.. wasn't pressurised at all into doing it, it just felt the right thing to do as a beginner, to get clubs aligned to my swing.

Basically the guy stuck some marking tape on the head and got me to strike a few off a marking board to mark the sole.. I consistently hit slightly towards the club's hozel as I tend to stand and swing pretty flat. Asked if I wanted club adjustment but said I was under no obligation to do so. I decided on the adjustment and after a little tweak the impact had moved consistently into the middle of the club.

Possibly beneficial for beginners and high-handicap duffers like myself, but doubt better players would get much from it.
