So since I have been playing the game (14 months) I have been using a Callaway Diablo Driver 11 degree loft with a regular shaft.

I have never been happy with this Driver, I found it difficult to keep the ball straight & even when I did hit a reasonable shot with it, the ball flight was way too high.
I pondered for ages wondering if the problem was me or the Driver? eventually after another dismal display of stupendous crap driving I was on the verge of lobbing it into the nearest lake.

So off I go to AG, after having my swing speed measured & trying a few Drivers, I eventually come away with a new Ping G15 10.5 loft regular shaft Driver.
What a difference? after I got used to it, the difference is amazing, even though both Drivers were a regular shaft the Ping feels much stiffer, the ball flight is lovely & my Driving has never been better.

I just never realised how 2x clubs with supposedly similar shafts could feel & perform so differently.

what do the rest of your clubs think about the ping chappy in your bag?

At the beginning of the post I was thinking the Callaway must be spinning too much for you thus getting the ball up in the air but if I recall correctly the G15 is pretty high spin too. The shaft in the Ping must just give you a bunch more confidence!

Answer, the shafts were not similar.

Stiff does not mean one thing, it is rather subjective.

IMO shafts make a good driver, the heads are not much different apart from adjustability, when it comes to be major brands when comparing similar generation/level drivers.

Get fitted for the right shaft and you can make an average head far out perform an expensive head with the wrong shaft.

Spot on! Different bend profiles, qualities, constructions and so on....

Captain_Black, I am in the same boat as you! I too have this driver, and am getting some horrible things happening with it of late. It's my first ever driver too, always spinning right or left, never straight. I have a project X shaft (that's all I know about it - it came stock on the club when I bought it).

Everyone tells me I shouldn't have a different swing for my driver, but I have to have one for it to work!!!

I shall be investing in something different in the future me thinks!
