Allerthorpe Park

Don't know if this has been posted previously as I haven't been on the Forum since last year but Allerthorpe Park Golf Club in East Yorkshire, near Pocklington and York for those south of Doncaster or north of Middlesbrough, has closed. Another victim of endless winter apparently. I understand closure was announced in January after many members had paid their 2013 subscriptions but that is only a rumour. I do know my club is getting enquiries from disillusioned ex-Allerthorpe members.

Was posted by golf empire on various media networks not sure it made it to here, apparently the family behind it had tried in vain to keep it a float with over 500k invested? We're attracting some ex members too.

Thats terrible news, far too many quality courses are closing due to poor weather.

It shows how close some clubs are to trading in the red. The only way for them to survice is to rely on visitors as there are not enough members anymore.

Was gutted with this news only played it once but really enjoyed it, preferred it to kp club that`s near by.
