It's a long time since I went to school so if anyone thinks I've got these sums wrong then feel free to make me look stupid (er).

The other thread about alignment got me thinking, how critical is it?

I've always read that your feet and shoulders should line up parallel to the line from your ball to your target.
I've heard (read) people say that their fault was they were aiming at the flag with their feet and thus were standing closed causing all manner of faults.

I'm going to make assumptions now because I'm sitting in bed and can't be bothered to go and find a club to test this.
I'm assuming the distance that the ball is away from you is 1 yard, and that the distance between your feet in your stance is 2 feet.

The difference between your feet lining up parallel to target line, and straight at the target for a shot of 150yds is 0.38 degrees.
That equates to moving your left foot forwards or backwards by 4mm.

I've got no chance of telling the difference standing over the ball.

You have to go as short as a 57 yard shot to make the angle wrong by even 1 degree, and that's if the ball is still 3' away from you.

Does it really matter that much :D

What were you saying about getting all scientific-like.... :D :D :D

What thismeans is that parallax effects by having a strong er eye, or by looking at the hole with a tilted head is likely to make you misalign

Be very consistent by looking at the target frmo behind the ball, and then when standing over the ball rotate your hear rather than turn it
