Long story short, my pro has got me teeing up with driver and to keep head behind ball, he's got me placing another tee 4-5 inches behind my ball, then I keep my head over the back tee when swinging. Got to say its working very well.

Now I know I can't be doing this when playing, but if I was to walk onto the tee and found an old tee or broken tee still in the ground, could I tee up in front of it and use it as I have been doing or would that be classed as an alignment aid ?

I'm thinking as I didn't put it there I should be ok.

How come many of the lady pro's use their caddies to align them for each shot, never noticed it on the mens tour but it seems very common on the ladies tours

as BT says, you can use what's there - and you can be open about it as well :) there are many instances where this applies, and of course many more where you just wish there was something you could use!

Don't see any problem with using anything 'natural' that is already there - such as a divot, patch etc. Plenty of folk focus on a point to either putt or swing over. Might be inclined to avoid using the likes of tees left in ground though - even just to avoid possible 'noise'. The new set-up should become natural pretty quickly, so temporary anyway.

Caddies are allowed to line up player. It does seem a bit daft and not conducive to flowing set-up but may reduce noise in player's mind. Serious money they are playing for, so a quick check probably worthwhile - and once one player does it and is successful..... Not as bad as grunting in Tennis!
