Does anyone else find it tough to say no to the odd Cheeky one?
I'm not a prolific drinker at all, Saturday's mainly, and once or twice a week at the most, but was trying to stay off it til Feb, played yesterday and went up for a coke, 6 magners later I got home, with a bottle red for me and a rose for the wife no will power at all.
Is it just me that succumbs to the demon??

i think a lot of us do occasionally mate despite good intentions. I had made the same rash statement about no drink in January following the holidays - and failing. Didn't boot the hoop out of it mind.

The hardest bit is the pint after golf, I love craic, so can't just go home and not have a post round drink, just need to try and have coffee or something, if I were at work and not golf I wouldn't have drank.
Yep need to man up lol

Alcohol doesnt really bother me to be honest, theres very few alcoholic drinks I like the taste of so generally go for a coke, if I go out in town its a bit different but thats to get drunk. Where as having 1 just has no affect so I prefer to drink something I like. I will have the odd beer after sport but I would happily drink something non-alcoholic.

I'm not suppose to drink although the specialist at my last check up said that "one or two" per week wouldn't hurt. I try and limit it to 2 pints once a week and only at golf. If I drink on the Saturday I won't drink on the Sunday and never drink at home or in the pub anymore. Having come too close to comfort from popping off through the drink I'm not going to start on that road again

i know what you mean dodger, I was dog rough at half 6 this morning making breakfast for the wee man!
I have thought about giving up as my family has a history of alcohol issues, but i like a drink every now and again, so would just be nice to go a bit without any.

After a round, I usually have a coffee or rock shandy or maybe a very weak lager shandy, I get a sore head if I have a full strength pint, no idea why. Now, if I had a couple or more pints, I am fine but that happens rarely.

I must admit I like a swally at the weekend. I never seem to have enough to get a bad hangover, except if I occasionally have a couple of whiskys too many.
Don't touch the stuff during the week though.

Currently cutting down. I have zero will power on this though. My normal daily intake is frightening. Truly.

What I have cut back to would down an elephant.

I used to smoke between 60 and 100 a day. I quit. I think that used any will power I will ever have. Either that, or I really don't want to stop enough.

Every one needs a hobby.

no not me.i've been t total now for over 4 yrs.the last time i had a drink was the 7th of december 2007 and i was absolutely steaming.so decided to knock it on the head.

i hardly drank before that anyway, only the occasional few in the house but even then i'd wake up in the morning with a sore head so it wasn't worth it really.i don't miss it at all.

Friday eve.ING is my problem time. I so love a few beers after work on a Friday they taste better than any other pint and I really feel that I have earned them

I rather like that idea from that Cameron chappie :-

Two or three free alcohol days a week. Now if only I could find out where I can partake of this great offer ....

a couple of pints after golf on sat and sun, the occassional pint if i'm golfing 'away' during the week. when on holiday it's more like 4-5 daily. at home have a bottle of beer maybe once a month on avaerage

Gave it up cold turkey a few years ago when it landed me in the hospital , stayed off it totaly for a long time , now i drink 2 mayb 3 times a year , weddings etc , quiet enjoy it when i have a few but wouldnt bother me if i never got any , i miss not been able to drink my 8 pints of guinness tho .. love my G but 2 pints now id be away in la la land, stick to bottles of larger , love the large bottle (or 3) of bulmers with pint glass of ice in the summer...

I drink every day. Wine with dinner. A beer after squash.

I don't ever think about it as I am in very good shape physically and have a cast iron constitution.

I usually don't touch a drop in January as a point of principle but had a couple of social events earlier this month that put the kybosh on it this year.

Cheers,

Snelly.

Trying to be good this next few months as my good lady is expecting so trying to show solidarity.... to little avail.

Love a proper gin martini of an evening, glass or two of red with dinner, good single malt in the hip flask on cold day, cold peroni in summer. Love it all. I've been for various cocktail making lessons to help me drink in ever more delicious ways.

Go through shorts busts of abstinence from time to time, but always temporary.....
