A bunch of about 15 of us has booked to go to Portugal in October. Can anyone recommend any courses in the Albufeira area? Would be looking for something fun to play over tough championship courses.

Balaia Golf Village on the outskirts of Albufeira might be a good bet. It's a 9 hole Par 3 course but is kept in brilliant nick and is an interesting layout. The 9th in particular is a great hole.

Nice and cheap and can have a break in the bar after the 1st 9 holes before playing round again.

If you are after something a bit different then id recommend the Faldo course, Amendoeira resort. Very long and pretty challenging but can be very fun trying to avoid all the bunkers, and when someones in them, trying to watch them get out.

Stumbled across the Faldo and oconner course year before last and it was on my deffo play list. Played Faldo this year and it proper bogged me off. Most overrated course I have played. The bunkers were just stupid.
now you have mentioned 15 going and if there are some serious golfers going they will rave about Palmeres. It was just a phenomenal course. But will take some getting to. No matter what 15 lads will take some ferrying about, and to that end Vilamoura area and some of its courses will more than suffice.
That aside. Depending how long you are at albuferia, think about having a round in Vilamoura then have a night in Vilamoura marina.

I agree with you about the Faldo Tashy, O.Connor is decent though but not as good as the Old or Victoria at Vilamoura.

looking to go back to Vilamoura later this year, would like to play Palmares again.
Will look at playing the Old course this time as well. It was 2 mins away in the car.
The 17th at Palamres was just a stunning hole. I should of played a second drive off that tee. It was glorious.
