This is my point, Its all in the short game where you cut out shots, its better to go for a softer ball to gain control around the greens consistently, rather than rely on an extra few yards to cut scores. IMO.

Go for the ball that feels best around the green.

There's no way you gain 20-30 yards using "distance" balls. 2 or 3 yards yes, 20 or 30 no.

Personally love the NXT/NXT Tours as the seem to go a mile and behave like scolded kids on the green (i.e. they sit down sharpish).

Got mine via the good dealers on ebay and now have a stack of NXTs, NXT Tours and some Pro Vs - all of which bizarrely took the pressure off my game knowing I had loads of the same ball and haven't lost one since!

Pearl/AA/A grade are all perfectly good condition for playing with. Interesting to see the ad in this month's GM about the players switching from Titleist to TaylorMade - genuine or just big bucks incentive?

I can agree that distance balls can travel a fair distance further. When I was testing the Topflite Freaks for GM I had a couple of rounds where I played 2 off the tee, one with my regular ball and one with the Freak. Whilst I appreciate that other factors can influence the results, the Freak went 10-15 yards further on a large majority of occasions.
