Advice on seeing golf live

I went to see the open at Lytham and unless you want to follow Mcilroy or woods around, you'll be ale to watch any of the pros up close!

My boss went for a mooch around the perimeter of the course during practice days and was like 15ft from tiger as he practiced chipping out of rough.

Watching the buzz around tiger was epic, I watched the majority of the field hit onto the first which was great :)

That's a good choice Daveyboy!

I've been going for the last 6 years, usually on a Saturday. OK it costs more than a practice day but who cares, and how often do you get to see so many top class players in one day.

Viewing is really good where ever you go. Can always get close when they tee off and a trick myself and mates use is to let the large groups walk on after the player your watching tees off and hang back a bit. so that you can get fairly close and have a good view from behind when they take their 2nd shots to the green.

Wear golf shoes and one of us takes a shoulder bag with water food etc, which we take turns to carry round.
Obviously you can't get to see everybody so it's useful to get a programme with tee times and choose who you want to see tee off and when to follow for a few holes. It's a long and tiring day but well worth the admission fee.

And yes, Rory Mclroy usually plays!

Also golf live is a good crack, been past two years and the workshops are priceless, this year I saw Gary player and couldn't believe how amazing he was, he's now a hero.

Thanks - mes thinks its going to get a little nervy over the next few weeks, but with the second top scorer in Europe, we should be ok!

The day at Walton is usually the day after Wentworth finishes.

Simon Kahn (to his credit) played the day after wining at Wentworth. Monty last year apparently finished around 2pm at Wentworth, drove home to Scotland to pick up a different putter and drove back straight to Walton (and didnt get in!).

All - dont forget to leave your phones in doors (or at least ensure they are on silent!)..........

Great tip - I'd turn mine off after reading this.

So pleased Warnock's gone Matty. I know he gets results (except Leeds - ha ha), but I despise everything about the bloke. Coppell must be due another stint at your place soon!! Come you Eagles.

I had a great time last year at the European Seniors event at Woburn. A tenner in and all the golf I could handle, a great day and you could mostly see who you wanted. We are going to the European ladies event this year, should be good too.
