Active/Inactive handicaps

We've had this situation for the last three years. If your handicap is lapsed you cant play in any competition that requires a handicap.

Don't know how it will work fully down south as it appears to have been slightly fudged imo.

It's simple really, no handicap no play ;)

I believe my place works the same principle as Homer's - had to play a couple towards to the end of the year to make sure I'd got enough in - managed to miss most of the comp season one way or another.

I think where we are it is simply any comp that is indicated as a qualifier, besides the regular medals.
Though I dont see how difficult it would be for golfers to get just 3 medal cards in per year, mind you I have only played 5 qualifiers, the rest have been matchplay, friendlies and unofficial comps :D?

I think the rule is that you can play in qualifying comps for handicap purposes only once you play in three your handicap becomes active.

Bob can you verify this.??

That is correct. I played with someone last year who shot a nett 66 but his handicap was inactive so he did not win the comp.

You could always take a peek at the 3 million pages of CONGU rules and regulations, but that sounds about right.
:)
