So i know his reputation with women is well documented, but what is peoples issue with him on the course? Was he arrogant/aggressive etc?

Big fan of his, big fan, some people thought he was to aloof, but he was a winner, most winners are, in his own world on the course, not saying much to anyone, I've followed him round many times, he just kept himself to himself, 100% focus.

From memory, he was extremely focused and determined - to the extent of not talking to other players but with an aura of authority that got to some. Greg Norman was probably the most notable 'victim'.

A club pro I know played him in an exhibition match around an unnamed club and at the start it was all very jovial, they had a £5 bet on, the club pro beat him with local knowledge of the course and whatnot, match ended 2&1. Faldo did not like being beaten walked off without paying up and didn't even shake hands

Club pros name and which course ????

Andrew Murray Euro Seniors Tour player (linked yo Lymm GC) gave a speech at our presentation about playing with lots of different players. When he played with Sir Nick they shook hands on the first, said hello and the only other words out of his mouth were a Titleist 1 until they shook again on the 18th! Very focused, professional but not very sociable.

He was very focused and didn't give much away

He was very cold towards people when playing but warmed up as the years went by

pretty much sums up most at the pinnacle of their profession. Hendry, Davis, Phil Taylor are the first few I can think of.

I was a massive faldo fan when he was in his prime, an absolute winner and as a Brit was great to watch.

I wont give the name of the pro but it was Lough Erne

can you see that happening? Really? in front of lots of fans and an exhibition match he walks off and blanks the pro?

sounds like gossip to me

Always loved Faldo when growing up.

Too young to really notice people did not like him, but then again Tiger splits opinion. Sometimes this comes with the territory.

All I ever saw with Faldo was a very focused golfer, I guess he was out there to win not make friends

Well that's what the pro who was playing told me, no idea about the crowd size or anything, maybe he was exaggerating the story, but why would he when it was just the two of us there?

A big fan. I saw him and Sandy Lyle play a round one Saturday at Royal Wimbledon about three weeks before Lyle won at Augusta. Just them, their caddies and a few spectators. Plenty of time to chat with both of them and he was warm and entertaining. I organised a charity auction many years later and he also donated some great signed stuff for that too.

I asked how he was doing when I saw him at Lough Erne. Never even acknowledged my existence, just stood staring while leaning on a club. ;)

Local knowledge of the course? Really?

Nick Faldo designed the course at Lough Erne.

I have witnessed him after rounds on more than one occasion stand and sign endless autographs, something that many others fail to do.

I never liked him since he dobbed big Sandy in for wrongly applying a bit tape to his shiny putter head , to stop the glare of the sun that we use to get. I just hate a snitch.
But he did send a bottle of Whisky to every golf club in Scotland after he won the open at St Andrews, or it might have been after Muirfield ???.
Too clinical for my liking, but Fanny on the other hand was ok.
